ACT TEAMS READY FOR "Short Track Style on the Magic Mile"

AUG 12-13

For Immediate Release                    ACT – 070811-39

Waterbury, VT – The biggest race in the 27-year history of the American Canadian Tour (ACT), on the biggest stage in northeast motorsports--the New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS), is just a month away. Over 70 teams from throughout the Northeast and eastern Canada have already entered the $120,000.00 event.

“This is going to be the most unique stock car race ever run at the NHMS. It is designed to be “short track style on the Magic Mile”, said Tom Curley, President of the American Canadian Tour.

Friday, August 12th, ACT racing will include 20-mile qualifying heat events set up from a draw-for-position format. Next up will be ‘Last Chance’ 20-mile races for those who will attempt to fill the 44-car All Star Challenge field. The heats and last chance races on August 12th will pay a purse of over $50,000!

Saturday, August 13th, the ACT $60,000 plus feature event will be run in two segments. The first race will be a 30-mile contest lined up according to the ACT qualifying heats. Feature points will be issued with 1 for a win, 2 for second, 3 for third etc., assigned throughout the field.

Next up on Saturday, August 13th will be the IZOD INDYCAR 225 qualifying (time trials) for Sunday’s MoveThatBlock.com INDY 225, and the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour 100. Following those events will be a 50-mile second and final feature segment for the ACT All Star Challenge. The second segment will include an inversion from the first segment. The winner of segment one will start 36th, second place 35th etc.  The two segments will be added together and the final finishing order for the race will be determined by low score from the two races. A perfect score would be winning both segments for a score of 2 points. That would result in a visit to NHMS Victory Lane.

“We will have teams from Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa, all the New England states and New York State. There will be around 17 short tracks represented at the ACT New Hampshire Motor Speedway event. We know that the short track fans from those regions will be excited to see their local stars at the magic mile. Our hope is that we can provide some of the open wheel fans with some high speed short track racing entertainment leading up to the IZOD INDYCAR racing on Sunday, August 14th,” concluded Curley.
