ACT Teams to Test at NHMS for August 12-13 All-Star Challenge

For Immediate Release                                                ACT – 072911-43

Waterbury, VT –The American Canadian Tour announced today that forty four (44) teams are preparing to test at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Tuesday, August 2, 2011. Teams will be getting ready for the ACT ALL STAR CHALLENGE to be held in conjunction with the IZOD INDYCAR event and the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour on August 12-14, 2011.

The mandatory test session for teams that have not been to NHMS with the ACT Late Model cars was announced last fall. A number of veteran teams who have raced in previous ACT Invitational’s at the region’s largest sporting venue will join the newcomers in the All-Star Challenge.

Previous ACT winners at NHMS Eddie MacDonald from Rowley, MA and Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. from nearby Hudson, NH plan to attend the session. They will be joined by former NASCAR Busch East veterans Brian Hoar, Brad Leighton, Jamie Aube, Mike Bruno and Tom Carey, Jr. ACT regulars are now considered somewhat experienced as well, and Joey Laquerre, John Donahue, Patrick Laperle and Wayne Helliwell, Jr. can certainly contribute some worthwhile advice to those that attend for the first time, said Tom Curley, President of the American Canadian Tour.

“I think a test and tune session with a blend of veteran and first timers to NHMS is just what we need to have a successful event in a couple weeks. We will definitely have some of the veteran leadership explain the difference between racing at the many short tracks we have in our system, whether weekly or touring, and the mile at New Hampshire. We hope to make it clear that this ‘short track style on the magic mile’ event for many is a great racing experience, but obviously not like beating and banging around Thunder Road or Oxford Plains,” said Curley.

The test and tune will take place on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 from 7am until 5pm at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. As with other test and tune sessions, first time teams will be required to compete in a ‘simulated race’ under race conditions to try and help prepare for the first actual green flag for heat qualifying on Friday, August 12th in the $120,000 ACT ALL STAR CHALLENGE event.
