TOP FIVE FOR DILLEY AT ICAR

For Immediate Release

MIRABEL, QUE, Sunday June 5, 2011: Mark Dilley driver of the No. 9 Rheem/Sylvania Dodge qualified in thirteenth for the inaugural visit to Circuit ICAR this weekend and pulled off a fifth place finish.

Dilley was fifteenth at the end of the first practice session on Saturday afternoon. The car was really tight and after making several adjustments, Dilley rounded out the top half of the field with the thirteenth fastest time.

Dilley was at the tail end of the quick qualifier and manoeuvred the 2.113 mile, 14-turn road course in a time of 1:39.545 and stated the Grand Prix ICAR in thirteenth.  “The car got really tight during the qualifying session,” commented Dilley.

When the green flag dropped Dilley settled into thirteenth and was playing it safe, just testing out what his car was capable of.  The first caution came early in the race and afterwards Dilley realized that his car was solid on the restarts. “It was tight racing out there and made it real tough for passing, so I drove the wheels of the car on the restarts to make up as much ground as I could.”

The final laps of the race saw several cautions, which kept the field close together.  This worked to Dilley’s advantage as he was able to pick up a position or two on each restart.  Dilley inched his way to the front, and when the two leaders got into each other and had to line up behind the No. 9 Rheem/Sylvania Dodge, Dilley knew he had a shot at a top five finish and just needed to keep the fenders on the car. A late race caution forced a green, white, checkered and Dilley restarted on the inside of row four in seventh. A good restart would see him pick up two more positions to cross the finish line in fifth.

“Man if feels to get a top five finish on the road course for all my sponsors and Farwell Racing.  We’ve been so good the last two years, and tonight we didn’t have any bad luck interfere.  I just want to thank my guys, they thrashed on the car all weekend, it was tight and we tried changing everything, but just couldn’t get it to free up.  I want to thank Rheem, Sylvania, PartSource, Exide and Leland for all their support. The Farwell Racing team is looking forward to Delaware next weekend.”

This weekend’s events at Grand Prix ICAR will air on TSN on Sunday June 12 at 11 a.m. ET.

The next stop for Mark Dilley and the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series will be Delaware Speedway in London, Ontario on Saturday June 11.  Mark Dilley is supported by: PartSource, Rheem Canada, Leland Industries, Exide Batteries, Sylvania and Castrol.
