Airborne fan will win $500 on "Legends Night"

For immediate release – Airborne Speedway – AS-082112-1

SOUTH PLATTSBURGH – Airborne Speedway will honor racers from its formative years in the 50’s and 60’s and - by the luck of the draw - award a weekly competitor and a lucky fan $500 on Legends Night Saturday, August 25.

The cash prizes are courtesy of Liquor & Wine Warehouse, a staunch supporter of stock car racing on the Plattsburgh half-mile oval. Co-sponsored by Plattsburgh Ford, Saratoga Auto Body Supply and Agency Insurance, the night’s attractions include kids’ race car rides and the next-to-last point race for the Ernie’s Discount Tools DIRTcar Modifieds.

Honorees include Dick Nephew, Charlie Trombley, Bob Bruno, Bob Brunell, Jackie Peterson, Mike Parsons, Hank and Ralph Jarvis, Vic Wolfe, John Rock, Harold Ormsby, Wes Moody, Jack Rugar, Bill Branham, Robin Branham, Beaver Dragon, Bobby Dragon, Jack Liberty, Fran Kane and Vic Wolfe, former race car builder and Airborne Speedway owner.

Only two point races remain to determine the 2012 Airborne Modified champion. Todd Stone of Middlebury, Vt., winner of last week’s Modified Run What Ya Brung event, will begin the night 14 points ahead of Pat McGrail of Candiac, QC.

Both a boys’ and a girls’ bike will be given away courtesy of Econo Lodge Inns & Suites in addition to four $100 gift certificates for fans.

“We’re fortunate to have a family entertainment facility in the North Country that’s so well run,” Econo Lodge Inns and Suites owner Steve Carpenter said. “We wanted to show appreciation for the fans, especially the youngsters who are the future of the sport, as well as do something for the drivers.”

Gates open at 4 p.m. Adult admission is $12 – kids 12 and under admitted free. Kids race car rides begin at 5:40 p.m.

Also in action – the J&S Steel Limited Late Models, Adirondack Water Sportsman Modifieds, Key RD Trailer Sales Renegades and Busch Mini Modifieds.

Airborne’s two-day Akwesasne Mohawk Casino event, Saturday, Sunday September 8, 9,

including Jamie Lee Thurston in concert and the DIRTcar Asphalt Modified Series Shootout is taking shape. For further information, visit airborneparkspeedway.com.
